Hi Landrover community!

We need help…

2 months ago we proudly bought a Defender 110 200tdi from ‘92. Last Thursday we started from the Netherlands with the plan of a 3-4 month road trip through Europe. Unfortunately we got stuck on day 1 because we could no longer shift properly. The Laro was towed away and has now been checked by a Landrover garage, the conclusion is that we need a new gearbox. Unfortunately the garage says that they cannot get it themselves (due to the age of the car). They can fix it (count on about 7 hours at 1300 euros), but then we would have to bring a new gearbox.

That is why we are looking for all tips and information about how we can get a gearbox (in this region), possible dealers or suppliers, but other advice that is useful in our situation is also welcome.

We have a Lt77 (s?, we are still looking into it) and are in Augsburg.

Uh, That's bad luck.
I don't have a Landy myself, but have you looked on kleinanzeigen.de? Maybe you can find something used there. Or on ebay.
There is also a German-speaking Landrover forum. Just use deepl for translation.

Unfortunately i can´t help you by myself. But a little bit south of Augsburg, about 20km, is Land Rover Kohler in Hurlach.
They have a lot of experience with classic Land Rovers. Maybe they have a solution!
It´s worth a ring!

I live in this area, when something like transportation is needed, drop me a line!
